The idea of project internal workshops came up, as usual, in the coffee kitchen during another meeting. At that time, several people were interested in doing own simulations with the ICON-LEM for either small domain or to test own routines. As this can be tricky, some HD(CP)² members scheduled a workshop for their colleagues to teach them how to use a small domain version of ICON-LEM. This workshop was very successful and also served as a platform for further discussion and joint efforts.
This lay the foundation for the idea of project internal workshops that are tailored to the needs of the project members.

We want to help you with that: the Early-Career-Day of the HD(CP)² General Meeting was about proposal writing and... about you and your ideas! This was on the agenda:
Proposals - what is actually required? What are tips and tricks? (Led by KoWi (European Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations))
Your ideas - and how to form them into proposals.
Think outside the box and use the chance and potential of the group within HD(CP)²: Present your project to our review panel, which will challenge and advice you - what is missing? What did you forget? What could help you?

After a successful first meeting in September where the added value of the high-resolution simulations was discussed, there was to be a follow up, the added value sort out meeting (AVSOM). This meeting took place at the University of Hannover on 4 December. The meeting focussed on the current status of the analyses, potential refinements and on how to proceed on this topic. Another meeting on the same topic took place at the 2018 Annual Meeting.
