Full Domain Data

Work package 4 of the Observation module deals with the different products that can be derived from the full domain data sets. Task 1 is especially concerned with the surface-, water vapor-, and cloud products from polar orbiting satellites.
A continuation of the local data server and data base set up at FUB (Freie Universit├Ąt Berlin) during phase I is envisaged. The existing data sets will be extended both in space and time, depending on the requests by the S projects. New data sets regarding satellite-retrieved cloud properties and integrated water vapor products will be made available in the standardized format, also depending on the requests by the S projects.

Along-track changes of convective cloud fields monitored by their visible reflectances (from Bley et al., 2016).

Besides, a high-resolution dataset of Meteosat-based cloud properties will be processed and made available for model validation purposes. The cloud properties include cloud top height, effective radius, optical thickness and water path. Data are available with a frequency of 5 minutes allowing for the study of temporal changes within the moving cloud frame (see Figure; taken from: Bley, S., Deneke, H. and Senf, F.
