An idea-driven activity
The idea of project internal workshops came up, as usual, in the coffee kitchen during another meeting. At that time, several people were interested in doing own simulations with the ICON-LEM for either small domain or to test own routines. As this can be tricky, some HD(CP)² members scheduled a workshop for their colleagues to teach them how to use a small domain version of ICON-LEM. This workshop was very successful and also served as a platform for further discussion and joint efforts.
This lay the foundation for the idea of project internal workshops that are tailored to the needs of the project members.

AVSOM I+II - Dec 2017 / Feb 2018
After a successful first meeting in September where the added value of the high-resolution simulations was discussed, there was to be a follow up, the added value sort out meeting (AVSOM). This meeting took place at the University of Hannover on 4 December. The meeting focussed on the current status of the analyses, potential refinements and on how to proceed on this topic. Another meeting on the same topic took place at the 2018 Annual Meeting.

- Follow-up on data post-processing (October 2017)
- Visualization and data post-processing workshop (May 2017): Basic data post-processing (cdo), such as remapping, data selection, data with grid information and visualization (Paraview).
- Small scale workshop (November 2016): Generating of grids, initial- and boundary conditions to perform own high-resolution simulations with ICON-LEM.
